AliExpress: How to know if a seller is reliable?

AliExpress has always tried to offer a truly satisfying experience to its users. However, online shopping has always been a great challenge. During the whole process, there are many fears that only dissipate when the package arrives in your hands.

Among the most frequent concerns that arise we can find great fear of whether the package will arrive, if you’ll lose the money, among others… Don’t worry, most of these mistakes can be avoided by purchasing products from reliable sellers, so how do you identify them?

Why is it necessary to buy products only from a reliable seller?

As we’ve mentioned in many of our previous articles, AliExpress doesn’t have its own stock. Instead, it works as a kind of marketplace, where sellers from all over the world can offer their products, just as you can find the same item in many stores at the same time.

This variety of sellers means that not everything you see on the web is reliable, increasing the risk that you can get involved in a bad shopping experience.

Therefore, our recommendation is that you choose to purchase items from stores or suppliers that have a good reputation.

How to identify a good seller on AliExpress?

We’ll give you some tricks, so you can check for yourself, when it’s reliable or not to buy from certain stores or suppliers.

1. Positive comments about the store in percentage

On the AliExpress website, there’s a specific section where you can see the percentage of positive ratings that all stores have, according to the ratings and reviews of buyers.

You can access it by clicking on the name of the store that appears at the bottom of the item description.

This figure expressed as a percentage is obtained from the total of the last reviews made by shopper users in the last six months.

Our recommendation is that you always choose those stores that have a figure higher than 90%… this way you’ll be sure that it’s a reliable seller.

2. Look for stores marked with the “Top Brand” logo

The Top Brand badge is a symbol of excellence, only the best stores in this marketplace have it. They’ve all been verified directly by AliExpress and also have very good ratings.

With all these recognitions, the possibility of problems in the purchase process is reduced.

Keep in mind that no award-winning seller is interested in lowering their status, so if you do end up having any issues, they’ll do everything in their power to keep you satisfied.

3. Age of the store

The more years the store where you want to buy from has in the market, the better. It means that it’s a solid and consolidated store, which over time has been able to provide quality products and services to its users.

Although, there are also new stores that are also reliable. After all, all the big franchises started from scratch at some point.

4. Number of followers of the store

As in the case of the previous item, there may be reliable new stores that have relatively few followers; however, it’ll always be safer to buy from those that have a larger number of people following them.

5. Check more detailed information about the seller

In the information portal of each store, you’ll find a box that says “Detailed Seller Ratings”. Here you’ll find an evaluation chart, measured with a scale between 1 and 5 stars (the closer to 5 points, the more reliable the seller is) and the items that are evaluated are the following:

  • If the item matches the description.
  • Communication with the seller.
  • Shipping speed.

Finally…

Number of sales of an item and buyers’ comments

Whenever the store where you’ll purchase the product you want to carry has very good ratings, you can also check what other users have to say specifically regarding the merchandise, in addition to the number of sales of the item.

If the item you want still has no ratings and also has few sales, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the seller is not trustworthy.

However, it’s important to check this point, because in the comments section you’ll find out how the seller reacts to any mishap in the shipment. Besides, past buyers almost always attach photos of what the item looks like when worn (in the case of clothing) and what it actually looks like, among other information.

Likewise, if you have any doubts about the purchase, store, product, etc. As we always recommend, the best thing to do is to contact the seller. If the seller wants to maintain the reputation of the store and generate trust, they’ll always be willing to help you solve any concerns.

It should be noted that if a seller ignores you, it’s best to avoid buying from them.

However, if after having embarked on the experience of buying from a certain seller, the package never arrives, the product wasn’t what you expected, or doesn’t match the image, you shouldn’t worry either.

AliExpress pays special attention to the experience of its users, that’s why it provides protection: the possibility of opening a dispute. In this way, you’ll be able to ask for a partial or total refund of the funds invested in the transaction.

And remember that, additionally to the possibility of opening a dispute, you can leave your negative rating to the seller to warn future buyers.

Search for items with good reviews

When you search for any product on AliExpress through the search bar, you’ll always have the option to filter your search.

At the top of the search bar, you will have at your disposal several buttons to further refine your search.

Among these options is the option to narrow down your results to only the number of stars the store displays, according to your choices. With this trick, you’ll be able to narrow your search, even more, filtering the items according to the best ratings. This way you’ll avoid wasting time discarding sellers.
